    Our portfolio-based career structure for General Practice Pharmacists starts with our Foundation Pharmacist programme for newly qualified pharmacists, and leads on to our Career Start programme for those with experience who are looking to develop their expertise in Primary Care. It will support and enable you to reach your full potential in General Practice.

    As a Band 6 Foundation Pharmacist, you’ll have the opportunity to gain Primary Care experience in various specialties such as Medicine for the Elderly, General and Old Age Psychiatry, Intermediate Care, care homes, and community hospitals as well as General Practice.

    Our Career Start programme is for pharmacists new to Primary Care or those progressing from the Foundation programme. Here you’ll be supported to complete the NES General Practice Clinical Pharmacist advanced practice competency framework and submit a portfolio for assessment. There’ll also be an opportunity to develop your clinical skills in an area of interest – which may also be non-clinical such as quality improvement – all with a focus on professional development.

    One post will be based at Gowanlea in Arbroath covering the South Angus area, the other will be based at Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar covering North West Angus.  Both post holders will be part of the Integrated Community Mental Health Team, providing a weekend service to clients across both areas.
